Philip Delorenzo

Philip "Fuzzy" Delorenzo - Chief 1960-1962, he joined the fire department in 1943, between the years of 1952 and 1959 held all line officer positions.  In 1959 he was appointed to the position of acting chief due to the illness of Chief Donald Hardy which required a long hospitalization.  He was elected Chief 1960 serving 2 years, President of the Ex-Chiefs Association in 1972. He helped organize the the underwater rescue team and was one of the original divers.  Besides duties and 2nd Assistant Chief in 1956 and 1957, he was also appointed 2nd Lt. of the diving team thus assuming a double line officer position.  In 1962 he organized the Piermont Fire Departments Ex-Chiefs Association.  His other affiliations included President of the Rockland County Fire Chiefs Association in 1964, Chairman of Board of Directors, Rockland County Volunteer Firemen's Association in 1969, President of Rockland County Volunteer Firemen's Association in 1973 and became honorary secretary in 1991.  He is a Life member of NJ & NY Volunteer Firemen's association., and he is a graduate of the National Fire academy, Emmitsburg, Maryland, he received certificate public safety from Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, New York.  He is a past president and Founder of the Rockland County Volunteer Fire Service Museum, and a he's a past instructor at the Rockland County Fire training center in Pomona, New York.
