History of the Ladies Auxiliary The Piermont Ladies Auxiliary was formed on December 8, 1932 when Mrs. Halliday, the first appointed President of the Piermont Ladies Auxiliary called the meeting to order. Monthly card parties were held to raise money, also trips to New York City to see plays at least once a year. The Ladies Auxiliary served refreshments to the Firemen at major fires and dive calls, at times bearing the bitter cold of winter and the heat of the summer as the firemen endured. We take great pride in ourselves and the Company, that is why the relations between our brother and sister firefighters is so good. The Auxiliary has a prayer that they say before every meeting and a part of it goes like this. "Our Father, help us to be good members of our Ladies Auxiliary, our aim is to promote sociability, to do what we can to help the Auxiliary and also our brother firemen. Today the Ladies Auxiliary are proud to say that they now have joined the company as firefighters and EMS personnel. The Auxiliary is looking forward to growing and serving the company and community in the years to come. |
